TI computers and commodore 64

Many TI programs well run on a 64 with very little change.

In 1987 my first computer was a commodore 64 with a 1541.  The only programs I had were the ones that came with the unit and or 1541.  The guy across the street was a big Ti guy with 100 of programs.  He came over with books of type in programs and Ti books of games.  We spent hours the first night leatning that many TI programs would run on my 64 with just a different print change on lines of data.  The Ti and the commodore used the print command different but once changed the program would run on a 64.  It was many months before I got Qlink and a modem and the 2 hour downloads and longer which you did at bed time.  His books and calling each other once I got a modem and downloading his programs and than changing them.  "TAhe speed of the comet is so great.  Even thinking of downloading all that I have from server at that speed.  I would be done in a few years.  Some things in the future are better.

Yes, some things do improve with time, no doubt about that. But, because you experienced what it was like in the beginning, you have have an appreciation for what you have today, too. Much of today's technology is mistakenly taken for granted. And when they fail, most people using the technology don't know how to cope or what to do to fix it.
